I’ve recently worked on was a live illustration activation for Lacoste. As part of a Europe-wide brand initiative, loyal Lacoste clients were invited to visit select stores in Switzerland and Germany to receive a personalised watercolour portrait created live in-store. I had the pleasure of being selected as the artist for the Lacoste Geneva location. The experience was as vibrant as the brand itself!

Bringing Personalised Art to the Lacoste In-Store Experience

The concept was beautifully simple yet impactful: clients were invited to enjoy a live portrait session while they shopped. Some came specifically for the event after receiving email invitations, while others discovered it by surprise as they made their purchases.

What made this event truly special was the diversity of people who took part, not only women (who often gravitate naturally toward illustration experiences), but also men, grandparents, young adults, families, and couples. Many parents asked me to sketch their children and seeing their reactions when they received the finished portraits was heartwarming. Guests smiled, laughed and often stood around to watch the creative process unfold, a reminder that art, when done live, becomes a shared experience.

Creating an Emotional Connection Through Art

As always, the emotional response is the most rewarding part of this kind of project. Every time I handed over a completed portrait, there was joy, sometimes quiet admiration, sometimes big, delighted reactions. Live illustration invites real connection, and this event was full of meaningful moments between guests, families, and the brand.

The Lacoste Geneva team was incredibly kind and supportive, creating a relaxed and welcoming environment throughout the day. And to top it all off, I received a message from Lacoste’s head office the next day saying how thrilled everyone was with the results. That kind of feedback reminds me why I love what I do.
